WHAT IS POLLUTION?Pollution is the introduction of contaminants into the environment that cause harm or discomfort to humans or other living organisms, or that damage the environment. It can be in a from of chemical substances, or energry such as noise, heat and light. It can hamr your body and can also cause death, so we must be very careful of it.
AIR POLLUTION:Air Pollution is the human introduction into the atmosphere of chemicals, particulates, or biological materials that cause harm or discomfort to humans or other living organisms, or damage the environment.
EXAMPLE:
Gases such as carbon dioxide, which contribute to global warming, have recently gained recognition as pollutants by climate scientists, while they also recognize that carbon dioxide is essential for plant life through photosynthesis.
So, carbon dioxide can have their good and bad points. different gases can produce different reaction to different things.
NOISE POLLUTION:It is displeasing human or machine created sound that disrupts the activity or happiness of human or animal life. It can also cause harm to our body because when u got noise pollution, u will not be able to sleep well, then the next day u will have no energry to do your work and if the problem goes on, u will affect your health and everything u do.
most of the noise pollution come from transportation principally is from motor vehical but also aircraft and rail noise.Other sources are office equipment, factory machinery, construction work, appliances, power tools, lighting hum and audio entertainment systems.
EXAMPLE:
-Factory noise
-Construction noise
-Demolition noise
-Intruder alarms
WATER POLLUTION:Water pollution is a large set of adverse effects upon water bodies such as lakes, rivers, oceans, and groundwater caused by human activities.
EXAMPLE:
- Industrial affluents Water is discharged from after having been used in production processes. This waste water may contain acids, alkalis, salts, poisons, oils and in some cases harmful bacteria.
-Mining and Agricultural WastesMines, especially gold and coal mines, are responsible for large quatities of acid water. Agricultural pesticides, fertilisers and herbicides may wash into rivers and stagnant water bodies.
PREVENT AIR POLLUTION:-Walk, cycle or use public transportation
-Give friends that are going to the same place as you a ride (i.e. car pooling)
-Turn off lights, TV, radio and other electrical items when not in use
-Use low-energy or energy-saving light bulbs
-Avoid using gas powered machinery (i.e. lawn mowers)
-Fill up the car with cleaner fuels
-Keep your car tuned and schedule routine maintenance checks
-Turn off your engine when waiting - do not idle!
PREVENT WATER POLLUTION:-Install "low-flow" shower heads and faucets to reduce water use
-Only run the dishwasher when it is full and use dishwasher soap that does not contain phosphates
-Disconnect the down spout from your eaves trough if it discharges into a sewer system
PREVENT NOISE POLLUTION:-Keep the volume of music and the television down at home so you don't disturb other family members or neighbours
-Don't slam doors
-Don't thunder up and down stairs - try to walk quietly
So, lets work together and make the world better so that we can live in a wonderful and nice environment!
